Tech Armor Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S8/S8 Plus

In todays video, we’ve got a tempered glass installation for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. This one is brought to us by TechArmor. This one is a quick review video to show off the protector.

In the U.S. you can check them out here: https://goo.gl/GPYC7E
In the U.K. you check out the s8 screen protector here: http://amzn.to/2uks70A or s8+ here: http://amzn.to/2soMs3m

As you can see here from the packaging, this is the 3D Curved Ballistic Glass. Tech Armor says its very clear, scratch resistant, strong, easy to install and provides edge-to-edge coverage.

Inside the packaging, you’ve got the standard tools required for the installation along with some information from Tech Armor.

The installation kit contains everything you’ll need to complete the install. This protector is U shaped in case you are looking the cover the sensors as well.

Installation is a three step process.
(1) start by thoroughly cleaning your phone. Take as much time as you need to do this. Just do it before the cleaning cloth starts to dry and leaves those streaks on your display.

(2) Next, be sure to dry your display using the microfiber cloth. Here, the point is to make sure there no dust or degree that remains.

If so, then use the dust remove stickers. Before applying the protector, be sure to give the display the once over to make sure that all is clear.

(3) The last step is to go ahead and apply the protector. Before we do this however, let’s take a quick look at the protector. There are a few things that I want to point out.

Pause the video to read the explanation from Tech Armor on the Tiny dots. We’ll revisit this later in the video with a bit more detail.

Second – if you are using VR, you will see them. So just take note.

If you’ve seen my videos before you’ve seen me do this several times over so this one will not be too different.

The key point here today is to make sure that every thing is lined up before lowering the protector down. Once everything is in place I put the protector on.

When sealing, I got from the inside out to the edges. That seems to work best for me.

This protector has a pretty nice look and feel to it. You’ll notice in this video that I installed this protector a while back, but wasn’t sure I would show it to you all. Not because it wasn’t a good protector in terms of clarity, touch sensitivity, scratch resistance or case friendliness, either. This protector was fine in all those areas.

I hesitated on this one because after I finished the typing test, the protector had the dreaded rainbow effect. Yup…

So that’s when I reached out to Tech Armor for their explanation and feedback.

This video also covers their S8+ version of the protector. The installation kit and process is exactly the same, and with this one however, I’m happy to report that it didn’t produce the rainbow effect. The S8+ version is a go!

I will say that I did remove the protector from my s8 and reinstall and the second go round, there has been no rainbow effect and this adhesive is still holding up nicely.

Ok so there you have it. Sometimes with screen protectors we do run across these types of issues when it comes to tempered glass screen protectors for curved displays.

Would I recommend this one. I’d say if your limited in terms of budget, then maybe. Just keep in mind what you read about the rainbows. All else is well.

I’m just about done with my screen protectors reviews for this series, and YES my friend, the Zagg Sapphire is next.
